More Secrets
Letting you know more “secrets” — music-makers and other creators who have graced my life.
The special guests of “Bodies Of Water”
“Here we are / All together in this big green car / Travelin’ faster and faster to that far-off star / Bodies of water find a way to flow…”
I’ve long wanted to share this particular piece of my musical history—and these amazing artists— with a wider audience.
Marya Warshaw of the Brooklyn Artists Exchange (BAX) invited me to perform one of my songs as the finale of BAX's 10th anniversary benefit at the Brooklyn Museum in 2001. Her only request was that I collaborate on it with a number of musical luminaries from BAX’s history. Lucky me!
Many of the musical guests were from the NYC collective Outmusic founded by Dan Martin and Michael Biello, and some of them were fellow singer-songwriters whose work I admire to this day.
On April 6, 2001, I had the good fortune to share a stage with these 18 music-makers performing my song “Bodies Of Water” — an electrifying experience.
I asked composer Dan Martin to arrange and conduct this for the event. Dan had produced my “Bodies Of Water” album in its entirety, and had arranged the title cut as well.
Now, 24 years later, using the original video footage of that evening from his and Michael Biello’s archives, Dan re-envisioned and edited this new video. Dan, thank you for helping me to at last honor the occasion and these wonderful artists!
My abiding gratitude and love to all who graced this performance.

Richard Foltz
The holidays always bring to mind Richard Foltz (1942-2014).
I met and collaborated with Richard through Outmusic and a number of songwriting circles. In 1996, musicians and producers he’d befriended came together to realize his dream of recording his “A Songwriter’s Christmas: New Songs for the Old Holiday.”
This compilation album features non-denominational holiday songs Richard had written each year and sent to family and friends in sheet music form, personally inscribed.
Each song on “A Songwriter’s Christmas” was performed by a different singer, and has remained evergreen since its release in 1996. Richard asked me to sing the lead vocal for his song “Music,” which he dedicated to Outmusic.
I’ll always feel lucky and grateful for the joyous experience of working with these musicians on this song: Dan Martin produced and arranged “Music,” and played piano (and toy piano!). The heavenly back-up choir?: Dan, Melinda Di Maio, Kenny Lockwood, and Zenobia.
Wishing you and yours healthy, peaceful holidays, and a bright new year!
This tribute page I created for “A Songwriter’s Christmas” years ago has detailed album notes, lyrics, musical personnel credits, and you can hear each entire song.
